Sekera Big Contract Trade Goalie

Created by: ItsTheCracken
Team: 2020-21 Dallas Stars
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 5, 2020
Published: Oct. 5, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If the rumors are true that we will be trading a big contract to help with financial concerns the only two contracts that make sense are Klinger and Rads. I don't see us trading Klinger.

If we're forced to play it safe from a financial perspective then its likely the Stars go with the young guys and hope that corrects our offensive woes.

I’d be shocked if Rads went back to Montreal. I honestly think Lindell makes the most sense

Cogliano + Comeau = Lindell approx

If it's just about the cap space, Dallas can find a way.

If it's about an owner's wealth, it's an other game. If it's the case, I'd target Gurianov with a front loaded offersheet contract if I were Bergevin.

Some Caps fans were talking about Radulov last year. With 1.25M retention for a 2nd, I think WSH could find a way to make it work.

But what would the asking price on Klingberg?

If you are looking to save real money, then Lindell makes way more sense than Rads. Rads' contract is close to 70% paid compared to Lindell which is only 20% paid.

In terms of Cap, Lindell makes also more sense since the Cap hit is 5,8M$ vs 6,25M$ with 5 years to go as Rads' contract only have 2 years left.

That being said, I woud be very surprised that Nill is trying to trade Lindell. My guess is that the D is now set for next season with Sekera on board. In other words, the D we saw in the PO will be the same with Johns on LTIR.

Cogliano and Comeau are only short term relief. I agree on the offer sheet. Everybody talks about the big names but guys like Guri, Mikheyev, etc make the most sense to me

That's why Rads was the odd man out. The strength of this team is the depth we have on D. I don't think a defenseman will be the contract traded away.
Rads is the most expendable.
