The Canucks thank you for your interest in Bo Horvat, however mid 1st round pick and an inconsistent marginal 3rd line NHL forward isn't enough of a return for a bona fide NHL star with leadership qualities like Bo has. We shall pass.

Ottawa accepts if you retain half and it’s the NYI 1st and Balcers instead of that package

It's just as bad, taking one of our top prospects for a loser. So I traded a loser for one of your top guys

Your offer for Vancouver is:

A) An amusing joke meant to solicit responses
B) A display of a complete lack of understanding hockey
C) A homer fantasy which that has no tie to reality
D) All of the above

Marner doesnt get you 5OA let alone Batherson as well.

Marners contract sucks and there is no team control at the end.

my my, that's aggressive.
1- Rassmussen being one of your top prospects and actually being a top prospect are two different things. Dude is on pace to be a 3rd liner. Engvall is already a 3rd liner
2-You responded with a crappy 4th liner for a 1st liner.

He's still one of our top guys and has promise. Plus we aren't trading Z, plus nobody wants engvall. If leafs fans can make a bad trade, so can wings fans in their counters

it's almost like the counter trade wasnt a viable comparison of bad to the original and that was the entire point.
and no one wants Rassmussen either

I would not say he made it clear.....he said what he had to say....he is not going to say out loud that they are exploring other options

Batherson has yet to do anything, the 5OA is going to hopefully be a great player, Marner has already had a 90 point season, those type of players do not come cheap

Chris Johnsson said it best

Kyle Dubas on Frederik Andersen: "As of this moment, yes, I expect him to be the starting goalie for our team."

Hints that he's unhappy about where the trade speculation originated and has addressed it directly with Andersen.

Again, he could have put it to rest completely by saying YES HE WILL BE OUR STARTING GOALIE, he did not. He still left the door open with the "at this moment and expect crap".

Marner is absolutely terrific. He is a 90+ pt player with good players around him.

The problem is that Marner is overpaid by a touch , and his contract has huge signing bonuses. Melnyk hates spending money.

After that, OTT will be bad around Marner for 2 years, after which Marner will only have 3 years left on his contract with no team control at the end.

OTT just isnt the right target. You should try and sell Marner to NJ for 7OA. They need elite wingers and have cap space.

Good points, the last three years of his deal he 'only' makes 8m in real money with all the front loaded bonuses in the first few years.

OTT just isnt the right target. You should try and sell Marner to NJ for 7OA. They need elite wingers and have cap space.

And Detroit is quite alright with that. A potential 3rd line center and powerplay specialist is way more appealing to a rebuilding team than a 4th line center that may creep into the 3rd line at times.
Also, the point of his counteroffer isn't to compare to the original. It's just to point out that the offer is ridiculous in any capacity.
