Why are we trading Hanifin for a guy that would be our 3LW? We need right shot top 6 forwards

I keep seeing these, I just don't think that DeBrusk is the piece Calgary should be looking at when they have a left wing stable of Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Mangiapane, Dube, Bennett, Lucic with Pelletier on the way. He would be more of what the Flames already have and if it costs a D man on a great contract that's 24 years old, not worth it at all.

I love DeBrusk, but Calgary needs more coming back. Jake doesn't net a 23 year old top 4 defenseman signed to a good contract.

I think that is a little closer, but I still wouldn't do it. But, I think trading Hanifin is a terrible idea as it only leaves us with 2 top 4 defensemen

DeBrusk per/60 at 5v5 are equal to if not better than Boeser over the last 3 years. Now could you argue that CGY need for a RS is higher than a LS? sure, but does that really make a huge difference in value? CGY could just as easily trade Johnny hockey to acquire a replacement for Hanifin.

There is a reason I said "a little closer" because the Flames do very much need another RHS RW, Our left side is pretty stacked with Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Mangiapane, Dube, Bennett (if he's not at C). Our only RHS forwards are Lindholm and Ryan

And yeah, we could trade Gaudreau, but why should we?To downgrade our LW and make you happy by landing Hanifin?

Also per 60 doesn't mean a whole lot as the more you play, the tougher defenders you face.

I personally don't want Hanafin and would rather keep DeBrusk. Finding 5v5 goal scoring isn't easy and DeBrusk ranks top 20 among all LW's since entering the league.

Ranked by whom? And using what matric? Because since coming into the league he's 32nd in scoring among LWers. and 36th in points per game (75+ games).

I liek DeBrusk and think he has top line potential, but seriously dude calling him a top 20 LW right now is just flat out wrong

I literally said in my post that:

"Finding 5v5 goal scoring isn't easy and DeBrusk ranks top 20 among all LW's since entering the league."

5v5 over the last 3 years (when he entered the league) he ranks 20th in goals scored among all LW's

I love how when a fan wants to make their players sound better than they are they cherry pick stats to an extreme. I'm done wasting my time on this asinine conversation

How is it cherry picking stats? if anything it leveling the playing field a bit and comparing apples to apples. Seeing as a good chunk of games are played at 5v5, its kind of important to see how a player does in that situation no? You're crazy if you don't think NHL teams analytics departments don't look at stats the same way.
