Description
Going on if any of the isles rumors are true, this seems to be the way the roster is headed.

With the return of Brassard and Martin the forward lines really look no different, Lindholm and Ho-Sang are our day to day fill-ins with Lindholm being a Bottom 6 fill-in, Ho-Sang being the Top 6 fill in. Carrick would be Dobson’s stop gap as he gets accustomed to playing a full NHL schedule.

Hickey also finds his way into the lineup again, in for the just traded Leddy.

The trades:
With Maata going to LA it looks like Leddy will not be going there and Boston can use him as a cost controlled Veteran LHD. Isles take back $850,000 in Lindholm and although rumor is Leddy has had 2nd Rounders offered for him, realistically it’s going to be a 3rd or 4th without retention.

Boychuk is the big cap dump, the devils will not have to worry about the 12mil left on Boychuk’s contract because he is only owed just north of 5mil in actual cash. In return they get a cheap bottom 6 option, a 1st Round pick, and a young B level prospect D-man. We also take the $1,500,000 that is Connor Carrick to lighten the Cap Blow.

I know the thought process behind it, but something about seeing a bunch of players and a 1st rounder in exchange for one Connor Carrick makes me lol

Seems pretty reasonable. I think it's more likely they'd re-sign Green to a cheap one-year deal as the LD3 and either trade or bury Hickey, though.

I really wanted Greene back but apparently there are other teams interested in him and I don’t think the isles can afford a bidding war.

Also the isles just (in real life) signed Aho to a 2 year deal with the 2nd being a one way deal. Making me think if Greene wanted 2 years it’s not happening anymore.

The ability to shed cap in a flat cap world makes everything a wild card, it’s also about how much is the cap space worth for your team. For the Islanders, it’s worth a lot. Especially this season with the RFA’s.
