That's a weird logic. Because Danault is in the 3rd center chair, even though he's currently Habs' best center (you could argue that Suzuki is), his trade value is the trade value of a 3C.

I'll counter you, because Kreider and Panarin have the top 2 LW spots, Lafreniere is only a 3rd LW, let's trade him for Armia and and a 2nd because that's what a 3rd LW is worth. Doesn't make sense.

Habs are trying to deal out centers because they have to many though, so it would be K'andre or someone else that they would want and I dont think Kravtsov, or Lindqvist are on the table

That’s not my logic. My logic is that I’ve seen many articles abt him and they rather get something out of him than let him go to fa next year. Koet and Suzuki will grow better than him in the coming years so that’s why they would trade him. Like I said trade is in the rangers side of things, def could use more . It not like u guys are even contenders now so it would be good if u trade Danult and let Suzuki and koet, than u also have domi under arbitration. That gives ur team time to get other assets and grow. Like I said again the trade can use a lot more but at the end of the day he will be a rental bc in the future will be a fringe 2c with the young guns u have coming up

Lias has shown he’s better on the wing , none of those 3 are in the table
So it would have to be pucks and lias or another prospect

Give us Buchnevich or something, Danault is a proven commodity so if you're going to put him on the Rangers second line give the Habs something other than a guy that "might" be good.

I agree with most of what you said, but the first proposal is just a major L for Montreal. KK and Suzuki are most likely going to surpass Danault in the near future which makes Danault expandable, though he'd be the perfect 3C on a contract that makes sense. If Montreal moves Danault with no extension in line it'll suck, but again even as a rental this deal didn't make sense. MTL is not a contender, but I don't see them trading a good roster player for futures, I honestly think their best move would be to try to package Danault (extended) with 16OA for a solid top 6 winger to bridge the gap between the youngsters and Price/Weber/Petry. 16 OA could be a great pick but most likely 2 years away from the NHL and 3 or 4 years minimum before being an impactful NHLer, and that's best case scenario. Price and Weber don't have so much time left.

If we do end up trading Domi or Danault for futures, I'll be slightly disappointed.

Why on earth would the Rangers look to re-acquire a 31 year old McDonagh with a $6,750,000 cap hit for the next 6 years?
And give up a first round pick on top of that?
He doesn't fit on this team anymore, and certainly not with that cap hit.
Let's not do Tampa any favors here.

He brings the true leadership we need. In this we have cap and we need a ld so I figure this is perfect
