Description

Dubas has stated that Freddy is expected to start for the leafs. Had a talk with Andersen and was a bit upset about the rumours.

Ballpark on Rfa’s and put Robertson in the ohl. If leafs want to make any major changes with the D it would mean Robertson coming up and one of kerfoot or Johnsson being moved.

Based on reports Gudas is a target and it works in 2 areas of need. Grit and needing a RHD. Based on what Friedman also said leafs are wanting 2 RHD to be brought in so if Gudas is one, I can see Demelo being the 2nd target as Gudas will be on the third pair and Demelo can go with Rielly.

Confirmed. There is a deal on the table between Maple Leafs and pending UFA Radko Gudas according our sources. If Toronto will not sign Alex Pietrangelo or trade for anyone RHD, then Gudas will be a Maple Leaf. Gudas knows about this situation and accepted it.

I would have for sure thought that OTT would be all over Freddie. $1M for a $5M cap hit is a freakin jack pot to Melnyk.

I can see him playing on the right side beside Sandin or Lehtonen but I'm not sure he plays on the top pair with Reilly

He is a pending UFA. They don't need him especially when they are trying to lose

Smells like BS to me. Dubas isn’t risking sanctions to talk to a bozo like Gudas.

in this goalie rich market i dont think teams were willing to pay high on freddie. Things could change but I think Dubas knows that finding a better replacement would not be easy as Lehner signed with vegas and Markstrom either goes back to vancouver or starts a bidding war for his next contract.

If Gudas is signed all Dubas would need is a top pairing guy for Rielly and this free agency is full of them.

I think you add 1 more year and thats the contract. so 3 x 4 years

by adding an extra year Gudas may be more willing to take the discount as he has insurance that he will play in the NHL for 4 years.
