We probably have to wait till TDL or expansion draft (either for nothing or for incentive trade)

IMO hes still worth a 2nd+ but his contract easily scares that off. If he’s playing well at the start of the next season then maybe we could move him at TDL for something positive

Desperate teams make bad moves all the time. I'm sure Burns could be moved for a 1st to a team that needs scoring and is transfixed by the flashy offensive numbers he's put up in the past 5 years.

Maybe...I don't know how it could be an in-season move without taking a bad contract of almost equal AAV back. With a flat cap, most of the teams that could use him will be up against it, and won't have the money to move him.

I'd also be extremely wary of taking him. His numbers from top to bottom declined pretty significantly last year. This could be due to the bad team around him, or the fact that he's 35, but gambling on a bounce back, and carrying that cap hit for until he's into his 40's is a huge risk to take.

If Burns is willing to waive, there are a couple of places I could see him going. I don't want to speculate on value though because unless the Sharks take back a considerable amount of that 8M Burns is making, the very most I see us getting out of him is a 2nd and change.

So burns without his contract is likely quite valuable. If he were a Ufa I see him getting like 5 mil for 3 years.

But his drawback is he is 8 mil for 4 years.

My suggestion is accept that you stink and are rebuilding. It is what it is.

Take back Lucic or similar and get value.

Like Bear and Neal and a first for him

    Or

Bennett and a first and Dube and a second and Lucic for him

not sure about a burns trade... Do we really think Merkley is ready to be a full time NHL'er. Also some decent cap space left on this roster. Why settle on those forwards and not try for a higher scorer like Toffoli?

Flyers might be an option now that Niskanen is retiring

Um... of course from SJ. Never in a million years should any GM make that trade as MIN, even if SJ sends back a 1st.

Have you looked at Spurgeon's contract?

Spurgeon is one of the best D in the league, stupid level of underrated. I'd gladly pay that 7.75M any day.

Adv stats darling who is carried by Suter, and doesn't make any difference if he's on the ice or not to MN winning or losing in the regular season. Useless in the Playoffs because he's a midget that can't play big boy hockey.
