Was this a good signing?

I kinda like this. I think the AAV and term is a bit too much but he can play very well defensively and this could pan out good for them

They should have kept Donato instead.

No reason to overpay a 3rd pairing Dman so he doesn't hit UFA. They must have no trust at all in their farm system.

Our LD depth behind Suter/Brodin is Soucy, Brad Hunt, Fedor Gordeev (OHL last season), and Marshall Warren (unsigned, NCAA). Ironically, we went from having too many LD and almost no RD in the system to the opposite.

Weird that you think this is an overpay when you said it's a good deal for Edmundson (who is worse and make more money).

Edmundson is the far superior player when comparing these guys.

Im so sick of these 🙄

The first one was responsible to manage bad defensive missions and the second one get the easiest matchups on third pair minutes...

This is such a bad contract. 1.25 for 3 years would have been fair but 2.75? Big big yikes

In other words, the first one (who will get literally the same role in MTL than he did in CAR) will still be as bad because he will get " bad defensive missions " and the other one who will be used correctly will succeed. The problem isn't only the deployment. Use the right guy at the right spot and I know it sucks, MTL doesn't have a Suter/Brodin so those bottom-pair LD get exposed.

Edmundson was a bit better in '18-19 but not much, it's just that he was so bad the years before. Hard to believe he's be better; Pietrangelo/Parayko could defend, not Petry.
