11th for 14th and 45 is surprisingly very different from 8th to 16th and 46th. The 4th doesn’t close the gap. It would probably have to be the 47th as well and with the high end talent ratings in the top 10 this year I doubt buffalo accept that. I would be ecstatic if they did

If the Habs could move up and not have to lose significant pieces off their roster I'm all aboard the Bergevin Chu Chu train

I used Buffalo as an example could really be any team from 8th to 11th. An addition 2nd makes no sense as that would have more value than 8th. I mean a 1st + 2 2nds can get a guy like Ehlers or Buchnevich or so on so why waste that on another pick

Because the top 10 is elite. The rest is a crapshoot and the Habs can’t even sign all their picks after anyways. They only have 5 spots available on the roster

All the more reason to trade a 1st and 2 2nds for Buchnevich or Ehlers. By the way they have 9 roster spots available not 5. They have already said they are not resigning Sturts, Luckuk and Waked. They are at 41 of 50 contracts.

Oh I misread your comment. I thought you meant you were saying you could draft a guy like Ejhlers or buchnevic. They have 9 yes but they issued qualifying offers to 5 and I didn’t count Hudon as a guy that stays in mtl so that brings us to 45 if they sign deals which is likely

Last year wasn't the only year that model was used. Read the article get informed then comment. In 2016 another deep draft the Sens moved from 12th to 11th and it only cost them 80th. Deep draft or not the going rate to move into the top 8-12 range is a mid 1st and a mid 2nd to early 3rd
