Honestly if I was Carolina, I wouldn't trade the 7th round pick for what you offered. Let alone Dougie Hamilton. I'd say a better offer is Marner at 5M retained

Habs fan here. All I'm gonna say is for that Hamilton trade is that the Leafs would have to take a goalie back in the trade. Markstrom is signing for 6 or so, maybe more. Plus not taking a goalie only leaves the Hurricanes 5 mil to fill out 5 roster spots.

You’re over 2M over the cap and only 21 guys there, realistically you’ll need 23 which puts you 4M over. So even dropping the markstrom idea and putting in a 1M G you’re too high. How do you plan on resigning Hyman who is arguably one of your best guys on the ice every night and will be looking for 5M+
