what I think the team will look like next season

Description
Fans are going to be disappointed but I don't see how adding Laine or Gaudreau is realistic when I think that players like Myers, Konecny, Farabee are untouchable and losing players like Frost and Sanheim probably hurts the team in the short term. I think some teams could be interested in players like JVR voracek and Ghost but I don't realistically see they Flames or Winnipeg being intrested in them. Adding Pitero would be huge for the team especially after Niskanen retired there is no clear cut partner for Provorov on the to pair so they go out and get one in free agency. Of course this means that a hefty price is going to have to be paid to protect 1 of the young defensemen for expansion but I think it would be well worth it.

Care to explain how we pay for Hart next year with this expensive team? I'm sorry man but Petro just isn't feasible for the Flyers. As awesome as he would be for us, there's no way it happens

If you look under long term out look $15M will be available after next year and that's not including Seattle there's enough room.

Laughton and Raffl being replaced with ELC deals, Ghost likely being taken out of the mix, and whoever gets taken in the Expansion draft likely frees up just enough to extend Hart

While this isn't as fun as landing a big name via trade it is likely more wise. Per comment above, could clear space easily by moving Ghost one year on or moving Voracek w/ retained salary. Its not that he's a bad player he is just overpaid.

Add that extra 1+mil you got floating in cap space to Bobby Ryan's contract and this is a very, very realistic opening night roster.

I know Pietrangelo is a big name and a Right D-man. But I know nothing of his style of play / context of his leadership.
If you, or anyone else could sell me on him then I’d be more comfortable in the possibility of signing him.

The simplest way to put it is he's an elite number 1D who recently captained his team to a Stanley Cup. Great Skater has offensive ability and is great in his own end

Dude is a top 5, maybe top 3 RHD in the NHL. His style of play is that he does everything extremely well. He can play 25ish minutes a night against other teams top lines while scoring roughly 50-60 points a season. He's the type of guy you don't overthink about signing, he really is that good

He just got bought out and I really think this is a contending team. He's made his money and wants to win and he has interest in coming to Philadelphia since he's from right over the bridge in NJ. We've seen players like Pat Maroon and Corey Perry take very little money to go be on a contending team I think 900K or 1M is a very realistic price for him

Oh I fully agree -- I just think you guys should just pay the man a little more if that extra change's just going to sit there lol

I mean it's important to have some space for the deadline and if there is a season to try and keep as much cap space as possible it's this one with Hart and Sanheim coming up next offseason

Not sure that's how Ryan will see it lol and besides he'd be on a 1yr deal and Hart/Sanheim extensions would be for next year once Ryan's deal expires.

Then again, the roster can be finalized some time after Ryan signs this deal and that extra change would only be evident afterwards. I get what you're saying, it's definitely a possibility Ryan signs this type of deal.
