Could add some pieces in the OEL trade, I don't know how much that retention is worth. Maybe another first?

since hes not interested in waiving his NMC for any teams besides vancouver and boston..this isnt happening..

And in no way is Arizona retaining 3m, they want to move out salary, this defeats the purpose.

Arizona is going to trade Ekman-Larsson and retain $3 million for SEVEN YEARS? I don't think so.

Doubt if Avs want to be so close to the cap with long term deals when next year Makar and others have to be signed

its fine for the next 3 years until Mackinnons contract. They have the cap space and cap flexibility even aftedr adding a 8m ish salary this UFA and re-up Makar and Landeskog.
Thats why they want to do higher AAV short term deals, anything beyond MacKinnons contract needs to be avoided

MacKinnon has said he will take a good deal next contract too and Johnson, Compher and Donskoi is off the books then too so I think they can be creative. They will probably play it safe though.

I think he can be talked into going to the AVS for sure. But maybe Vancouver or Boston is somehow a better fit.
