While I like getting the 1st rounder for NSH, taking on 7.5mm in salary (1.5 from Nemeth, and 6 from Turris) and moving up 20ish spots isn't a deal a GM is going to take. The more realistic swap would be WSH, or DET 64OA pick.

If the Wings sign Krug to a deal like that they win nothing.

You think they'd prefer to subject themselves to 8 years of a buyout instead of dropping 21 spots in the draft and getting a solid defensive D in return and all for a prospect that probably won't even help Poile while he's still GM

They do if they really want Askarov and believe Turris can be a serviceable 2/3C for the next few years

Nonsense of course they'd consider it, it's completely reasonable and beneficial to a win now team

Krug is not very good, and if the Wings commit that much money and term to a bottom pair Dman we are in trouble for years to come.

Krug would obviously improve the team the next couple of seasons, but that I don't see that as the biggest priority. At this point I think it's just too early to be handing out long term, big money free agents. The short term goal should be adding as many picks and prospects as you possibly can. Taking on bad contracts that won't handcuff them two years from now when they are ready to really compete (hopefully) to add those picks and prospects seems to me to be the right path to take. If you add Krug at $7 million X 5 it could cost you an opportunity down the line to pursue better options that align better with the rebuilding plan. That could be as soon as Dougie Hamilton next year or it could be down the line if Seth Jones or Zach Werenski reach the open market. I do like the thought process behind your proposed Turris trade.
