Can TB afford to have a 400k buyout on their cap?

If I were Jarmo, I'd take this deal and run. Shed ALL of Wennberg's salary, and replace him with a guy who can legitimately be our 2C? Even with the 2022 3rd, that's a great move for the Jackets.

Would they do it for just a lesser pick, so they don't have to deal with the buyout? Like a 4th or 5th?

I can't see TBL taking on any salary to move Johnson, even with that low buyout number. They could just retain the same number of Johnson and probably get more bidders.

not really, no. TB will be butting up to the cap ceiling without retention / buyouts.

This doesn’t solve anything money wise for CBJ who still needs to sign PLD and Anderson

CBJ has no interest in this. Johnoson isn't a 2C.
Nor does he fit Torts system.
He's the guy Torts shoved around all over the ice and eliminated TB from the playoffs. Why would they trade for him.
