Horrible return for Simek. We recently re-signed him and we're not giving him away for free. He's a solid shutdown defenseman on a very affordable deal for 4 more years.

This team is not competitive either. Top 6 is meh, but the 3rd line is pretty weak with Sorensen and Melker there. Donato also isn't a capable center. Bottom defensive pairing is also pretty weak.

Leafs don't need more LHD

A) Why do the leafs need Simek??
B) That's not even close to enough value for him

Simek is worth more than that, for sure, but he's certainly not a top defenseman. I don't like how long they signed him for, but that contract is pretty reasonable. He adds almost zero offense, had a rough year, and has a very low ceiling, but he shouldn't be given away.

The Sharks are probably giving up on Jeremy Roy.
