Really odd that ARI won't qualify Hinostroza. If the Leafs can get him on a cheap deal, I'd be thrilled.

Yeah I was surprised to see that. He could replace Kerfoot at a much cheaper cost and allow the Leafs to rebuild

Oilers pass. Delusional if think they will retain and give up the player with best pk % in the league Triple the cost with term and give up the better pick.

Retool, I think you mean. But, yeah, that was my thought as well. I had considered acquiring Hinostroza in some ACGMs, but I didn't think ARI would want to move him because he's likely going to be cheap and has a decent likelihood of outperforming his dollar value (depending on what the deal would look like) based on seasons previous. Guess I was wrong. Not sure why they wouldn't have moved him rather than just not qualify him.

Kerfoot would be an ideal 3c for them, Khaira is a 4th liner. I think that's a great trade for them (and 200k retention for 1 year is practically nothing)

Khaira led the league in pk% and is a big 4th line centre. I’d rather keep him. Oilers 3c position needs a strong faceoff guy which kerfoot is not. In a flat cap there will be plenty of better and cheaper more fitting options. I definitely wouldn’t touch the deal.
