Post Domi Trade

Initial Creation Date: Oct. 7, 2020

Description
Not too much going on here. Dubinsky cannot be put on LTIR until the season begins since he wasn't on it last year. For that reason, Columbus must be cap compliant with his contract included when the season begins. For this reason, Murray and Harrington are moved for draft picks. Could be to really any team that would be interested.

Contracts:
5 years, 6 million AAV is a bit higher than I've seen most people give Domi in these, but comments usually say he'll ask for more. I feel this is a fairly accurate contract
3 years, 6.75 million seems like pretty fair bridge deal for Dubois based on what else I've seen. I'd prefer to sign him long term, but the best course of action for him is a bridge so I think that's what will end up happening.
5 years, 3.75 million AAV is an overpayment based off of other ACGMs, but I think it's a steal. Gavrikov was very effective as a 2nd pairing blue liiner in his first year in North America and locking him up at value for 5 years would be fantastic. I've seen contracts for Gavrikov all over the place, but this seems to be more on the upper end, so I was trying to be safer in terms or realism.

Great explanations and thoughts! I personally see nothing wrong with these signings and realistic in my eyes. I also don't think Domi will get that high either and I think he will come out 5.25-5.75X5 is my guess. As for Dubois I think he will also most likely to get a bridge deal especially because of all the financial difficulties nowadays. So not bad in my opinion for him.

As a leaf fan would you guys do Johnsson and a 3rd for Savard though?

Honestly, I don't think that's something that would fit with this team right now. They don't really have an guy to comfortably slot into that 2nd pair RHD spot if they moved him and Savard is one of the bigger guys in the locker room. I think a trade of Murray or Nuti is much more realistic, regardless of trade partner. I feel like the only way Savard really gets moved is as a piece for a big deal like Laine (though I don't see anything like that happening). I can say for certain though that if Savard was moved to Toronto, Columbus would not be retaining any salary (like a lot of ACGMs have them doing in a move to Toronto).
