I'm not sure what the exact situation is in Montreal, but I do believe both parties know this is the last year together. Just throwing out an option that benefits both teams. Montreal reasonably is not a cup contender this year, so why not trade Danault for something rather than lose him for nothing in free agency after the season?

I dont think Danault is going anywhere . Kotkaniemi isnt proven he had good flashes in the playoffs for 3 weeks but hes far from proven hes ready to be consistent for a full season .

I believe Danault still gets to play with gallagher and tatar and suzuki gets anderson and drouin leaving Kotkaniemi on the third line with armia and lehkonen until more consistency is shown . KK lets not forget was sent back down to the minors for the better part of the season

If the Rangers just let Strome go they can fit Cirelli in. They might lose DeAngelo also.
