Ottawa gets a fairly young starter for the future. Pitt gets a pick, cap space and a decent prospect. Win-win situation right now but we'll see what Murray signs for

imo overpayment for murray, but the sens do need a goalie and have lots of picks so not too steep of a price

Good trade for OTT in my opinion. I don't know how big of a market there was for Murray so PIT's return seems fair, but I still give the edge to OTT.

This is really good for Ottawa, a starter to take over for Nilsson’s injuries and he has so much potential to help jumpstart this coming year. This could be huge going forward for this team and these kids seeing some wins if Murray picks up his game

Maybe PIT could've gotten more if they didn't publicize this move so much

Ottawa has a deep pool and a plethora of second rounders but desperately needed a goalie so win-win.

The trade itself is fair, now it's all about the contract.

Obviously he couldnt fetch a 1st after a bad year.

Max I’d pay for Murray is a 2nd round pick. Looks like I got outbid.

2nd round pick for a playoff goalie. Murray was never a good regular season goalie and that's what Ottawa needed. Hopefully they have a good backup in case Murray falls flat on his face

I’d say it’s fair, and the best move JR has made all offseason

OTT, CHI and CGY were the three most likely destinations. No surprise here.

Fair trade. It's the value range where I had Murray.

You got a point here. It's a terrible idea when a GM shows he needs so badly to trade a player, specially when the market is so tight because of many options in FA. It's not a bad trade for Pens. It's fair enough. But it could be better, if JR were smarter than he is.

The better move was getting rid of a $5 mill bottom 6 forward and getting a 3rd pairing dman to replace jack johnson

Good deal ... Murray can still be a starter, but Jarry is the starter in Pittsburgh now. Win-win IMO.

I don't think JR did much to publicize this more than the fact that every team couldn't protect 2 goalies in the expansion draft. That's a conversation that's been happening since the Seattle franchise was announced. Regardless, it definitely was another factor driving Murray's value down.

Matt Murray is not the guy he looked like when he entered the league. He's so wildly inconsistent year after year.
