If DeAngelo and Strome were signing those contracts, the Rangers probably wouldnt be moving them.

Sounds doable. Too bad the NHL doesn't do sign-and-trades. If they were definitely at or under 9M total, with 4-5 years, I think the value is pretty fair, and the cap could work for WSH. With the uncertainty of whether WSH could even sign both under the cap, or whether they'd lose one after arbitration, it probably doesn't happen, and we should be thinking of trades that involve signed guys or teams with more cap space.

Even if the trade made sense as far as assets for the Wings, there is no chance Yzerman trades a guy that he JUST signed to a 1 year deal... that's a GREAT way to get blackballed by agents.
