Is this the David Poile that drafted and developed two Norris Trophy winning defensemen and a Vezina trophy winning goalie in NSH, after trading for or drafting guys who went on to get the same prizes in WSH? Yeah, I'd probably know more than him, too, if I had clicked around the web for ten minutes and read what some amateur bloggers thought of some players.

I have to disagree. Goalie is locked up for a while and I personally wasn't sold on Saros long term. You could make the case for Lundell and I would've loved it if they got him, but Askarov looks really good. Then Evangelista with the 2nd, that's a nice pick. Getting Kunin for 2nd, 3rd and a 3rd line centre that was going to be out in a year? Awesome.

We have 2 very different views on how this went

The guy has been a GM since 1982. He barely knows how to tie his shoelaces.

Meh I was talking about the David poile that hasn’t been able to draft a good forward in the first 3 rounds in forever. I’ll give it to ya the man knows how to draft defensemen. But his scouting on forwards are absolutely horrendous. The fact that he took Askarov proves that as well. He went with the BPA yet again instead of a bigger need which is forward. Kinda like he did went he had the 4th pick and picked jones. He picked a position of strength Instead of drafting the center(Monahan or Lindholm) we were lacking for so many years. Besides finding a diamond in the rough in the 4th round in Arvidsson our whole top six has been by free agency or trades

Bonino will be able to bring back a 2nd at least at the trade deadline. Is Kunin worth a high 2nd another second and a fairly high 3rd. Evangelista was a projected 3rd rounder and as nice as Askarov is poile once again went with the BPA instead of a position of need

Well I guess this is why you're not a scout or GM. You always go for BPA in the 1st especially and you trade for needs. Plus it's hard to project teenagers so the kid you picked to be your hopeful 1rw in 3 years may not play an nhl game.
Projected by who? You? Tsn? Central scouting? It doesn't matter what they think. Teams have their own list based on info we would never get. And Evangesta has the potential to be a better player than where he was taken.
While bonino was well liked, he was gone after this year. Kunin had half a point a game last year at 22 with a solid 2way game. And his tenacity is underrated. The last time the Preds had a C under 23 with even an hint of top 6 potential was probably Legwand... Which is very sad tbh. Thankfully Tomasino is there too. They turned a UFA going to walk and a 2nd, 3rd to a young top 2/3 C with 1/2 potential. That's solid
