Not really. I don't see him taking Roy's job and I don't see him being a top 4 option. I also don't like defensemen shorter than 6'0 other than Krug lol

Its a very solid group

Note sold on Kaliyev. I do believe in Madden and Fagemo. And think Turcotte is future 2c over Vilardi.

Alex Laf was a stupid pick in the 3rd, and they should have picked a LD 35th. otherwise pretty solid draft and I love Faber.

No, Vilardi is the current 2C and the 2C of the future. He did great in his first 10 games with the big club with 7 points in 10 games as well as scoring the fastest first goal in NHL history 10 seconds into his first shirft.

Turcotte played LW with Zegres at the world juniors and did very well. I see him playing LW long term now that Byfield was picked over Stutzle.

With Center now insanely stacked, I don't see Madden squeezing his way in unless Kopitar is traded which is very unlikely. Brown will continue to be solid until he is 40 should he want to play that long. You can make an argument for Fagemo taking 4RW over Thomas, but that's not my prediction.

Kaliyev looks like he will become a Hoffman type player.

I'm not sold on either RD picked. I was hoping for Gunler, but I'm happy with the Simontaiven pick, he could be a steal someday. I would have liked to see Kuznetsov picked, but it is what it is.

Hopefully the Kings can get Brandt Clarke next draft, he reminds me so much of Doughty.

Anything you can tell me about Faber to make me feel better? Haha. I don't like the lack of offensive upside. If he turns out to be as good as McAvoy I'll be very happy, but that seems unlikely.

Disagree. When Grans fell to #35, there was no way the Kings couldn't take him. I have been pretty adamant that the Kings needed to take a winger with the #35 if they drafted Byfield, but after seeing who was left on the board, Grans was the only decision.

@tkecanuck341 The Hurricanes have a logjam of potential top 6 forwards: Jarvis, Necas, Gunler, Bokk, Suzuki, Drury, and Ponomarev. Perhaps Kings should try to make a trade for one of them using a defensman like Walker, Grans, Clague, Spence, Durzi, etc

I think Carolina's big target right now is a goaltender. I agree that they'll likely make one or more of their forwards available, but I think they'll be looking for immediate help, not futures.

With the extension Walker just signed, I think he's off the trading block for at least a year. The optics of trading a player that just signed an extension looks bad in future contract negotiations with other players. If any RHDs are on the trade block, then it's probably Roy. I think they're better served by keeping both guys.

I was honestly ecstatic when Grans fell to 35. Winger depth needed aside, you don’t let a gift like him slip by.

I believe Turcotte played center, Zegras was on wing (most of the time). But I am sure he would be fine in either.

They should trade one of Madden or Anderson-Dolan...lotta center-hungry teams out there

They will most likely put JAD at 3C until Byfield comes in after next season. After that he can be traded. Kings should keep them along with Kupari and a few other guys and use them for ammunition for next draft so they can get Brandt Clarke and maybe a high caliber winger as well.
