He was asking somewhere around 4.5 mill for 5 years based off what I heard or possibly even higher

I for one find Duclairs track record spotty. Which Duclair are you signing? The lack of consistency in his production should set his value back more thannsome think, otherwise you are signing a player with one good season (see Skinner, Jeff and his $9 million albatross, or Johnson, Tyler, who two years ago I said sign him to a show me deal).

A smarter player is going to take the ahorter term "bet on myself" deal (see Karlsson, William).

Having put that thru the grinder, I would call a 2 year $3 million per sort of deal.

Anything more or longer just becomes dangerous.
