Teams like Tampa and the Islanders are fearing the O/S. Friday will be an interesting day to see how many big RFA are talked to about an O/S. So those teams have to decide if a decent offer is on the table they may have to take it. The trade presented gives cap relief to the Islanders- around 7.5M. 5.5M for Leddy and 6M (what he deserves) Pulock while Pionk is at 3M.

They could bury ladd, Komorov and hickey easily and trade toews for a 1st and have enough money to resign barzal and pulock. That can be done without even trying to move someone. Leddy had a very strong playoffs im sure they could move him if needed. I don’t think they are worried about the O/S. Who is offering barzal 11m per? He’s not signing to go lose in Buffalo.

Maybe I am missing something but how do you bury those 3 players? Along with being a Jets fans, I am a big Islander fan. Trottier and the boys were my favorite team. Not to mention Trotz is from Dauphin, Manitoba. Could we get Trotz in the trade? Trying to help both teams.

They buried ladd for most of the year last year and hickey for all of it. By putting them on the ahl roster they’d save roughly 1.5m in cap per player for the season. And no, Trotz doesn’t leave even if it were for Laine!
