I beleive the Leafz never make that offer on the basis of the holes in Virtanen's defensive game.

He is a good talent, but would be 3rd line material in Toronto - and if that Jackets series proved anything, he just isn't the type of player the Leafs need at the moment.

McEwen on the other hand......

Van says no because they need the cap space for any OEL deal. They need to know what there cap looks like before any deals like this one. They lost 3M to Lou retiring!
