Sell at TDL

Created by: zreich4
Team: 2020-21 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 8, 2020
Published: Oct. 8, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Season goes poorly and we become a hockey player rental store at the TDL.

Parise, Dumba, MAF trades are done before the season.
(Dumba trade from https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1993158)

All other trades can be whatever playoff team wants them at/before the deadline. Also picks may not be accurate but who knows how these players play during the season.

Could be real interesting with 30+ mil for 21-22 and another 15 mil coming off in the 22-23.

Sounds like Vegas cant find a suitor for giving up a 2nd with half retention with nothing coming back. This trade gives Vegas cheap usable players and it would equal to what Vegas would pay to buy out MAF for 2 less years. Also on here I've been reading Glass is falling down the prospect rankings but I haven't looked into it and unsure if that is true.

I would be fine switching Ladd and Boychuk. Both would be a scratch/LTIR/buyout candidate and the Wild have plenty of RD in the system to replace a Dumba trade if/when it happens.

Very nice job on step #1...you were realistic in the valuations and retention on most players might help in securing the deals. As you mention, there may be some minor tweaks with either the picks that convey or the retention value slightly). I also think Fleury would do very well in Minnesota, who has always been a defense first minded team.
Unfortunately, the F group would be near the bottom of the league, and need a bit more development as well as a couple more elite play-maker's or scorers near their prime.

If either of them to a ltir (I think ladd legit might this year) then I don’t see why the isles making the trade at all honestly unless more money was retained

Yeah the Islanders probably don't make the trade if Ladd can be put on LTIR unless Lou really wants Parise. From the Wild side, NYI might be the only team that might be interested that Parise will OK going there. At least what I have heard.

There is a difference between no trade partner and Vegas not yet accepting other teams demands. The only offer Vegas has made is a 2nd for Fleury no strings attached, the rumours of 1st + 2nd and 1st + 2nd and retained are all rumours of what other teams are asking.

I am not a fan of having a 36 year old with long term still left at a high cap hit even with retention. Especially to lose a first. Gotta have more ELC on the isles, less 30 year olds making 5M
