Right now Jost and Jarnkrok are basically the same player except Jost is an RFA and 7 yrs younger. That’s worth more than a 4th. Avs decline.

The canes decline. Necas has a ton of potential and had a great first year in a sheltered role. The deal also just doesn’t fix the canes need for a 2nd line winger. If you trade necas and bring back a winger, then the canes still need a winger

Those were my thoughts. But Jost isn't worth a 4th plus Jarnkrok either

That isn’t true. We just wouldn’t trade Necas for a guy with 2 years left. Just because the value is right doesn’t make it a smart move.
