Helping Vegas

Team: 2020-21 Winnipeg Jets
Team Explanation
Stastny is currently a liability to Vegas' chances to go after Petro. He would act as the perfect stop-gap to buy Perfetti another season to develop. Vegas gets to shed over $12M in cap without retaining or costing picks and the Jets fill the two main holes in their roster.

Who does this trade benefit more, Winnipeg or Vegas? What's your proposed counter-offer? Could the Jets land Krug/Barrie and Granlund/Haula for a similar cost as UFAs?

I agree that stastny has negative value but isn’t Schmidt is very valuable and stastny doesn’t balance it out

You should add a "St. Patty Laine" bobblehead in the Ottawa transaction... only $24.99 in the true north shop.

thats not fair. Ottawa gets nothing because perreault will off himself when he hears he gets to go to Melnyks Jerk circle.

I don't think they move Schmidt, rather just Stastny and a sweetener (2nd round pick and 50% retained?). Pietrangelo/Schmidt/Theodore/Martinez is an incredible top 4

Your counter-offer is fair. That only will work for Vegas if they can get a biter on Fleury. Moving Stastny's salary isn't enough.

With Petro and Theodore, I'm not sure where Schmidt fits in, especially at nearly $6M. His production would likely drop off if he stayed.

I'm surprised a team didn't take Fleury half retained and a 2nd as that was the reported offer from Vegas. Detroit I think could have taken Fleury, then retained some sort of amount to make MAF a $2M backup for 2 years. We'd get a 2nd from VGK, plus potentially another 2nd or 3rd when we ship him off. But yes, there's lots of work yet for Vegas' GM
