Does Ottawa think this makes them contenders next year, do they think Gudbranson good is Gudbranson even worth a 5th round pick next worth I'd say no but Pierre Dorion seems like he's just throwing **** at the wall and hopes it sticks.

Why? It costs Melnyk $3 million, and doesn’t make the team better. This is a lose-lose for the Sens.

I won't have Johnson-Matheson but Gudbranson-Zaitsev will make it

Its 5th rounder for roster player.
And for only 1 year.

Win win for both teams?

Not the end of the world, also dude is only making 3 million despite 4 million cap hit.

I like this actually. Gudbranson was really good on the ducks and makes for a decent Boro replacement. I'm not sure why this is where they are putting their money, but there's not really anyone else of this size and presence on the market.

Exactly...a team like OTT needs vets like Giddy....it's only 3M.... Perreault is going there too... lol

Think this means Hainsey isn't coming back, and they get a RHD for a year while some of their talent continues to develop.

Not a terrible move by the Senators from a practical sense.

A big guy who eat a good amount of minutes for the sens...I guess. But a very weird move; helps the ducks the most

They still need to put players on the ice and it’s only a 5th round pick. Settle down

Did they forgot to add the big suitcase full of money slid under the table to the trade?

OTT has to add some salary to make it to the cap floor lol. They'll probably add a lot of young players on ELC given their current forward group. Gudbranson is a fairly cheap option for the Sens: 4M cap hit but 3M actual salary.

Doesn't make much sense. Remind me, what is the minimum cap you MUST spend? Earlier it was rumoured Ottawa even considere someone ( cant remember if it was Stepan) just because he had something like 6M caphit but real cost only 2M. I could be wrong.

So the Sens didn't want to pay Duclair, but they are ok with paying Gudbranson. Makes sense...

This makes zero sense to me. Guddy is a great guy but he is awful.. Hes basically an anchor at this point, just ask the last 3 teams that had him. How does this guy keep getting moved with value its shocking to me. Yeah hes big and can be tough but he doesnt male his presence felt enough IMO. Ducks are probly stoked to clear that cap, wow!
