Habs fans and leafs fans, please there’s no need to fight. You can have differing opinions on the contract without trying to insult each other, or the other team’s players.

Guess we are going to have to agree to let the teams do the talking.

Toronto - Out in the play-in round tears of joy
Montreal - Beat Pittsburgh and was competitive against Philly awesome face

Love these threads that trigger emotionally-fueled negative reactions. That's a very convenient way to quickly put a maximum of non-constructive contributions on a ignore list.

Anderson has played six NHL seasons.

He has broken 30 points one time.

Last year he had four points.

Bergy paid him forty million.

I’ve got nothing against the Habs and have no problems cheering them on. Always nice to have Canadian teams in the playoffs.

This Anderson deal is bad. For the Habs sake I hope it pans out. I have my doubts though.

Oh ya, also, if you STILL keep saying Nylander is overpaid after this, you're out of your mind.

Nylander doesn't hit or play defense, but go on

Nylander got 5 points last year, but go on.

As a Leafs fan I don't expect you to understand, but Regular season points mean literally nothing. A Cup winning team does more than produce offense.

Seriously, calm down people. Anderson and Nylander are both good players, there’s no need to argue.

Didn't know getting 5 points mean you can hit you play defense. Thanks for letting me know.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA !!!
I gave the habs a shot, but without insulting anybody, this is one of the worst gambles any GM could make. Imagine how Gallagher and Danault feel after this.
This contract could make the Habs into a decent team, or completely break them apart and make them one of the worst teams in the NHL once again.
It all depends on Anderson's will to live up to the ridiculous contract he signed (barring injury). The only way I would feel if I were Anderson would be that I have the entire team on my shoulders (no pun intended), like Crosby in Pittsburgh, because this is the only way he is going to have long-term success in Montreal.

I see this contract going one of two ways. 1 he works out and stays healthy in Montreal and puts up 50-75 points. 2 he stays injury prone and never reaches his full potential and this contract ends up being bought out in a few years. I'm leaning towards the latter of the two...

He has NEVER cracked 50 points, let alone 75.

Even if that were true (re playing defense) that isn't worth that money.

Made an account just to vote no.
Neither Anderson nor Domi deserved more than 5.25 AAV, and neither deserved a contract over 4 years.
Bergevin's time is nearing.

Marc's betting his job as a GM on this precise contract, Alzner was a rookie move that has been forgotten. If Anderson comes back to his old form and I don't mean a 30 goal scorer, if he comes back to being a 20+ goals and 200 plus hits per year he'll be worth every penny of this mammoth of a contract and Bergevin will sign for another 5 year term in Montreal. If he doesn't pan out and keeps getting injured Marc will be canned.

Sincerely think Josh can come back to his old self when fully healthy, we'll need to readress this trade in a couple of years.
Hoping for the best and for once we can'T say the Habs offseason's been boring!

What old form? He cracked 20 a single time. Just once. 40 points once.

His career average is about 15 goals and 30-35 points. That does not cost 5.5 million, let alone for 7 years, let alone in a flat cap world

30-40 is the range I assigned too. I don't like this contract, but I see why it motivated the trade. I think it's the impact he will have that MTL is looking for more. He might crack 50 again. This is way too much but is also a heavy risk. MTL is betting on this guy big time.

He might crack 50 a first time. NOt again. He's never done it.

Nylander played great defense last year.

You're just parroting a tired narrative.

He also crashed the net like a beast last year.

Most NHL goals from within 10 feet last year?

Nylander.

Crazy right?

Nylander's career high is 31 and Anderson's career high is 27. They can both score and one can play a physical game and play defense.

Anderson is a solid top 6 option.

Imagine thinking Nylander can't play defense because Canada-man kn the broadcast said so
