Yeah, I wanted to move Nash or something, but didn't really care much to put together the trades to make space.

It's going to have to be more than a 3rd look at the Marleau trade.

Dubinsky is currently on LTIR and is not expected to come back so a 1st is a no. The vegas toronto Clarkson trade is what you want to look at for comparison as whoever gets him is just placing him on LTIR.

I'd compare it to the staal deal which costs the ramgers a 2nd.

Honestly, I'm not too sure. I feel like most fans would be pissed if they moved him for a 2nd, though I'd be pretty happy with that. I feel like he's more of a sit and wait thing here. They'd probably find a way to get him on the ice. I just didn't care enough to make more trades in this.

Dubi is 100% insured why are we giving up assets to get rid of him?

Also ttading bemstrom for a second would be insanely idiotic imo

Because he can't be LTIR'd until the season begins so him 5.85 will count against the cap unless they move him

If he's not coming back and on LTIR, why give up anything in a trade. He is in the final year of his contract.

guess the organization does not want to spend the extra money on him and figures hey why spend when we can make another team do it. Basically you dont want LTIR contracts there are videos explaining why its bad

Is Dubinsky’s contract insured? It’s 5.85M in base salary so that’s a lot of dough.

I completely understand that but I'd much rather deal with a year before giving up a 2nd or 3rd just to move Dubinsky's contract. Detroit had both Franzen and Zetterberg on LTIR all of last season land they ended up using only around $30,000 in LTIR relief.

Yes it is a lot but how much is a 2nd or 3rd worth monetarily? Plus with all of that being salary and not bonuses his buyout would be $1.95M for 2 seasons. At that price I'd buy him out before giving up a 2nd or a 3rd.

If he were to be bought out that’s 3.9M cash and 3.9M cap hit and I’d ask for a first. If he’s LTIR and not insured that’s roughly 6M cash which is a ton when teams are cutting payroll. Really hard to gauge it but I’d wager there may be some insurance on the contract to lessen the blow. Some will point to Staal as getting a second for 3M but you have to factor he is taking a roster spot so the replacement level player ~1M should be subtracted bringing it to 2M while helping us get over the floor.
