I would take him on a 4/5 year deal at around $8m and be mostly fine with that. He's a good player -- but I agree, I don't think he is the player that this team needs to be putting big money and term into. It could really blow up in their face. I would rather go for cheaper options and give the kids a shot.

I don't want NSH to sign Hall, and think they'd regret a long-term deal with him, but three of the most regrettable contracts in the league is a wee bit of hyperbole, no? There are currently many much worse contracts out there.

Still, I don't see any of those players falling off to the degree where NSH would be paying millions to park any of them in the minors, like Alzner or Ladd.

Johansen has already fallen off a mountain and Duchene was never good enough to merit that contract in the first place...and, Hall will get paid as a player he simply is not!
But, if you think the Predators can win a Cup with those 3 players and their contracts, you might just know something I don’t...

As I said in my original post, I do think NSH would regret giving Hall a long-term deal. I never said I think they're anywhere near a Cup right now either. I just pointed out I thought you were being overdramatic when you stated they could be some of the most regrettable contracts in the league. There are much worse ones out there right now, and there's no evidence to suggest that Hall, Duchene or Johansen will devolve to the point where they aren't NHL caliber players anymore, like say Jack Johnson.
