I like the fit. I don't know if Veleno is expected to make the team, but Bobby would be a great mentor on his wing

Happy for him. He deserves it. IMO he’s still a 30-35 point player.

I’ve heard Veleno is spending the year in the SHL. He’s currently playing for Malmo.

Yea, great fit...I mean obviously he doesn't care to win and he seems like a good role model, hes done some not so smart stuff in his like so he can relate and redirect people away

Wasn't sure if that was just to keep him playing, or if that was the plan for the whole season

Rass along with most of the other prospects (Veleno, Seider, Lindstrom, McIssac) are likely to spend the year in Europe...See them in 2021. I believe Steves plan is to fill the roster with vets on 1 year deals for this season. Which in all honesty isn't a bad idea.

Steal for Detroit. No idea why he had so many suitors and chose the worst team in the league

A little surprising but I like it. Seems like the wings are at least trying to ice a watchable product next year.

Agreed, but how many of their vets have gone through as much as Ryan. Not many of them where high picks also.

I think he's after one thing he wasn't getting in Ottawa or that he wouldn't get on a contender.

Ice Time to prove himself. He's gonna get that in Detroit.

super smart move for both the player and the team. if he shows anything, they can flip him at the deadline.

I don't agree with this idea of "I've screwed up so I'm a good role model". I don't think he makes any better of a role model than say. Staal, Nemeth hell even Mantha at this point.

I dont mind the other guys but rass is a pro season ahead of those guys. With our entire bottom 6 being essentially gone at the end of the season I'd like to see him. I don't mind veleno or lindstrom or the others staying there

U can't tell me your gonna listen to someone who may never have gone through something like addictions when they tell you it's not worth it compared to someone who has gone through it all and can relate more.

I honestly don't think it matters.
You can look at that roster and they got all kinds of vets on there. That isn't the problem with this team.

More opportunity for minutes is my guess. Glendening and Gagner are the only right shot forwards currently, and now Ryan.. Ryan was likely sold on getting PP time (maybe even promised?). Hopefully he plays well enough to interest a contender at the next deadline. Not a terrible situation for Ryan to keep proving himself again.

I believe Rass is like Hronek and Zadina and can be brought back to North America once training camp opens back up. Pretty sure Stevie said that Rass would be on the team next season.

Rass and Lindstrom are playing in Austria men’s league and Allsvenskan respectively. Both those leagues don’t require them to stay the full season. Same with Zadina in Czech league. So I think it’s telling that they weren’t loaned to higher leagues like SHL or Liiga. So maybe all three will be in training camp with a shot to make the team. Zadina will be for sure on Wings. Rass and Lindstrom maybes. I’d like to see Rass in Detroit tuo.

Except Glendening the current Wings vets suck and belong in the ECHL
