I mean, Minnesota has had good luck with rejected Oilers goaltenders.

Too high of an AAV and he'll be 36 when this expires. High risk signing

Term seems a bit long, but a Talbot/Stalock combo this year, then keep Talbot with Kahkonen going forward. Not the worst I suppose, especially if Kahkonen isn’t ready yet

*Sigh* Why 3 years? Well, I hope he regains that form he was in when the Oilers did well in the playoffs (can't remember the year off the top of my head)

Of course he's gonna sign that : money until 36 years old and first goalie role

Hard to evaluate goalies, but a bit more $ for 2 years would have been best for MIN

the goalie market is weaker than anyone wants to admit.

They should have kept Dubnyk

I find goalie deals hard to evaluate so I think about it like this. If you had two Cam Talbot's that would be $7.33M, and would likely have below average goaltending, so add in 3 year term on a 33 year old who seems past his prime, and it's hard to love it. If Minnesota is just getting a guy to be there who is good in the locker room as a stop gap as they recoup assets, it's not an awful decision, but it won't likely be good value.

It's an overpay, but not by a lot. I'll accept it.

tbh this is a very risky deal. He has been struggling in the past couple years but he was a BEAST in the playoffs. I think there is quite a bit of upside in this deal but if it doesn't pan out this would kill minnesota.
