Well, Marky is gone now

Wow, what a cheap AAV! Absolute steal

I don't get it?

He's been below average for 3 years?
And He had an 0.897 SV% last year?
And VAN needs cap space badly.

Why is this a good idea or signing?

Great signing. Imo this lines up better with the canuck’s timeline than a markstrom signing would be

Because Demko needs a mentor an someone now they have somebody to expose for Seattle. Demko will play most games.

Fair deal, imo. Holtby isn't what he used to be and with a flat cap, this seemed inevitable.

Assuming they protect Demko in the expansion draft next year, what the 2nd year does is it probably gives Seattle someone to choose instead of any of their other players.

The 2nd year makes it a no for me, because Pettersson and Hughes need new contracts for that season

That's a pretty expensive backup. Not a good signing.

Over the past 2 years:

Allen .913
Holtby .905

I didn't even consider his comment an insult. Jake Allen is 3x the skill of Holtby.

I was saying that they are both equally capable goalies. A Price/Holtby tandem would sound great but I prefer Price/Allen. I think it's a good deal though for Vancouver, they get a good 1A/1B tandem with him and Demko. Especially when you consider Murray's contract at over 6mil.

Well, Murray is clearly better than Holtby. I think the Holtby deal is too rich, but I'm glad a division rival is doing it.

Very Good Veteran and Still has some game left signing. I thought he was going to ask for more but he played this one smart an so did the Canucks because I think they got better without spending too much money. This Amount of money still puts Demko in as playing a very good amount of games and Holtby's contract is tradable via a M-NTC but they shouldn't have to because he brings CUP and Playoff experience and he will do well living in Vancouver. Holtby is now understanding where he is play wise and I think this is a good deal for the Team, Holtby and Thatcher Demko. However, Markstrom is GONE and will be overpaid, most likely.

The back end of this deal will cost the Emerald City $5.7M in real dollars if they select him in the expansion draft. Here's hoping!
