This is one of those contracts (like Jack Johnson a couple years ago) that requires an explanation from the GM.

Schultz is still a top 4 dman! He was our best when we won the cups. Don't lose faith in him over one bad season people jeez. This is a very nice deal for both sides, although being a Penguins fan, I'm not happy that he is going to our rival.

But we will miss you Schultzy!!

Makes the cap deep on the backend, although a expensive 2 years - I think it could turn out good for the caps tho

Still a good player. Struggled this past year but I would be voting "yes" if it were 2.5M ... 4M is too much, though, IMO.

orlov is on the left. The site lists him as a RD but hes really a LD. He can play right but his strong side is his left

Orlov is left-handed.

But still a weird move, Schultz is a puck mover and that's not what they need. I thought they'd sign Gudas type player

This is actually a good signing folks. It's LESS than what he got in Pittsburgh by 1.5 million per season. He will have a STRONG D partner to play with unlike in Pittsburgh when he got stuck with Jack Johnson (who amazingly got signed by the Rangers today - HA!!!). Justin Schultz is NOT as bad as people are saying WHEN he has a good solid D partner and on the Power Play he is very good. His agent is a pain in the butt which is why his contracts are always an issue but for a right handed shooting defensemen and only a TWO year deal I like it for the Caps. I just find it funny that as a Pittsburgh Penguin fan, Justin Schultz AND Jack Johnson are still in our Metropolitan Division. HILARIOUS!
