I saw this statement the other day by an AGM, but I don't know who to give them credit, so here goes..."one team's trash is another team's treasure" - anonymous

I Blame JJ for a lot of the Schultz performance. Injuries hurt him as well. He's not as bad as he looked this past season dragging an anchor around the ice but he's also not close to as good as he was in 2017.

It's fine.

One of those "that'll show you" type moves, oh wait, they were just waiting for someone to take him off their hands.
With no Schultz and no J.Johnson, Capitals better be wary of the Pens now.

It’s too early to be mad at this contract. It’s way easier to focus on this year and forget this dude carried the Penguins to a cup when letang was injured. I’m not excited I’m also not mad. I wanted a pick moving dman and that what I got.

No...it's not fine. We need shut down dmen not pylons on ice.

It all depends on what Schultz they get. If he can play like he did before breaking his leg I’m excited if not we are in trouble

It's just 2 years. It could have been much worse. You'll calm down.

Kinda proves my last post that a big contract is gonna have to go. Ugh. Not even close to what I was hoping this off-season would look like.

Its free agency. Best moves are the ones you don't make most of the time. Theathletic has gone over the contracts the last 10 years. About 80% of the contracts are regrettable. 2 years is pretty good.

for the record. And to give credit where credit is due. Hainsey was the 1RD that year. Not Schultz.
Schultz was the guy who got 3 and 7 second shifts on the cup run as Sully tried to hide him on the ice. There are whole articles on the internet from the Post Gazzett and the trib explaining that.

Good signin.g. Schultz was great when he wasn't with Johnson, the worst dman in the game.

I’m optimistic about the deal. I think it’s “creative “ not the move I would have done but I’m not a GM or know the going rate for D men. I’m intrigued.

This.

People on this site are normally short sighted or too stupid to know what this team actually needs. Schultz was paired with JJ all last year and coming off 2 terrible leg injuries. I’ll reserve judgement but for now it was a creative idea that brings in a player that’s a winner and can move the puck up ice well. Lav is a defensive coach so he can iron out the D zone issues.

I will give him one thing. He had JJ as his partner.
But if you ask me what defense pair I'm targeting on WSH now...It's that one.

Did we really need a puck moving RHD???...NO!!!! Our D looked silly in the playoffs the way it was. We needed a solid shut down RHD at a decent cost. Shultz is neither.

Orlov is underrated as a player and Lav is a smart coach. Who is better Schultz or Matheson? I would attack that pairing if I’m the caps smile
