The term is questionable, but the Flames need him. Solid contract.

Cap hit is a little high but it’s time Calgary find a permanent starter.

Term is questionable, but I was expecting a lot worse after he turned down a rumoured 7 years 5-6M from Edmonton.

Six years is really iffy for me. His numbers are really solid, but have never been eye popping, though in fairness Vancouver has hardly been a wonderful defensive team.

This makes sense and really isn't that awful of a contract. Markstrom is a great goalie..the flames window is in the next 3ish years and goaltending has been their worst position since kipp left. You worry about the last 3 years later on

Yay, a big signing. But man, 6x6 for a 30 year old goalie? He's consistent, he isn't bad, but man...

Honest question: Is CGY now a legit contender in the West? I mean, wasn't goaltending the main thing holding them back the last couple years?

I swear if Marky turns to a bust, our goalie coach needs to be fired.

36 isn’t that old for a goalie, and his partner should be Wolf on his ELC by then so it’s perfectly fine. He’ll be a top level starter while our window is open here so I don’t hate the term, and the AAV is lower than I was expecting given the season he just had and the amount of teams interested. This isn’t gonna be a Bobrovsky contract, we should get at least 4 years of value out of this contract, probably 5 or 6.

This is exactly what Markstrom's market value was. Let's just hope he can be consistent.

Gonna miss this guy, makes Calgary better for sure. Little high on term and AAV to me. He played a lot the last 2 years and has had some injury troubles in the second half of this past season. Glad he got his money but I hope he plays bad lol.
