No wonder why Vancouver desided to not resign him

I would prefer 2 yrs at 4.5 for Braden Holtby than 6x6 for Markstrom any day, but well, Markstrom is great too and im hoping that he will achieve big things here.

Good luck and welcome to the band, Jacob!

I would have much rather seen 6,250,000 x 4 years.

The salary is a bit higher than he deserves and the term is really bad. Calgary probably will regret about this contract in about 3 years.

I believe 6M on Markstrom is better value than 4.5M on Koskinen. And Rittich is probably better than Forsberg at this point. So CGY certainly got better in net imo.
I don't think the contact is bad. Maybe 1 year too much but this guy is worth the money.

Wish him all the best but a risky move considering his age and his torn meniscus. Turned down Edmonton 7x $5M.

6x6M... that's a big yikes.

EDIT: They gave him a NMC...double yikes.

No NMC on CapFriendly. Where did you hear that?

Take another look, they updated it. NMC all 6 years and signing bonuses in the last 2 years to make it worse to buyout.

It's very early, but it's aged great so far. Could certainly go downhill, but it certainly hasn't so far.
