Maybe they think Heinola or Samberg are both near-ready. They did extend DeMelo, though, so that's good.

Does this mean that the jets only plan on having one of Samberg and heinola on the team?

Also, just as a side note, I’m very impressed with the success the jets have been having signing their own UFA’s lately. Like, by all report, Stastny would have signed in Winnipeg if Vegas hadn’t offered more money and term. Beaulieu and demelo both came back, and now sbisa. And none of the signings have been overpays. Clearly, the culture in the organization is really good.
