I wonder if Poile is giving out 2 year deal so that they are more enticing for Seattle in the expansion draft - cheap contracts that could be flipped at the deadline (if Seattle picks any of the newly signed players) for picks.

That or he's balancing the kids with vets who play "the right way." We've certainly beefed up, and aren't taking any crap next season.

Yeah the team has sort of lost its way over the last couple seasons. That's why i have no clue where we go with this. Are we going to go for a Hall or Dadanov or Hoffman or are we going to rely on internal prospects like Tolvanen/Tomasino/Pitlick?

I agree, it's tough to tell. I personally don't want any of them on a long-term deal. If we went 2-3 years on any of them or Toffoli, I'd be ok with that approach. I don't want to hold the prospects back forever with the core only being a bubble team now.

Even if they go the prospect route, I hope it's guys like Tolvanen/Tomasino/Pitlick. Poile has mentioned names like Olivier and Jannot recently, and I'll be worried if we rely on guys like that for anything more than emergency call ups for a game or two.

One guy I never hear anyone mention is Anthony Richard. He won't be waiver exempt next season, and I wouldn't mind seeing him getting a look as the 13th forward. He's accrued enough experience in MIL that you wouldn't be hurting his development as much by reducing his playing time, the way you would by having a younger prospect like Pitlick or Tolvanen in that role. He might be at a point where he'd improve more by practicing and being in an NHL environment, even if he's not playing as much. If that's not in the cards for him, it might be best to give him a change of scenery, via trade. I could say the same for Allard as well, really.

And yes, welcome @bombo! Good to have another Preds fan on these forums!
