Also, this means the Blues will need to trade someone away so that they can sign Dunn.

oh shush....you and your 6'4 forward that lays 14 hits in 54 games. Hell you read the pittsburgh media after that signing it says "brings some size" what a bunch of crap.
Already marketed into something he's not.

And believe me being 6 inches shorter and a whole lot lighter makes a huge difference when you have to clear your own net.
Pietro get 52% of his 5v5 starts in the Ozone because he can handle his own net.
Krug, almost 70% starts in the ozone this year 69.8%.....why, he can't clear his own net.

Tell me it has nothing to do with it.
One is a true 1D the other is a 2D you hide.

You are still crying over a league minimum contract pittsburgh gave out? lmao. go follow another sport. hockey isnt for you. And the guy said similar offensively. So what does clearing the net have something to do with playing offense?

I think it's the other way around. You have problems with players actually hitting anyone. Try figure skating it's more your style.

Okay, so it's not bad. I like where we are headed. We got a solid left handed defenseman, who does bring offense to our game, not as much defense but that shouldn't matter if we pair him up with Colton Parayko.

I don't like it.
Till 35.
name me one 5'9 defense man in the league over 33?

Way to long on this contract. I think it's going to come back to bite.

Krug is a guy hid in the Ozone.
You don't pay that kind of money for a guy you have to hide from your Dzone.

John-Michael Liles was 5'10 and played until 36. Not good, but played.

This probably mean something one of steen, bozak or Perron is out. Finally a big name has signed and it’s a good signing for the blues to get a cheaper Pietro replacement

@pharrow was using a point about how Petro is more valuable in the defensive zone, i.e. he can clear the front of the net. Krug doesn't do that very well, as he is a dominantly offensive defenseman.
@hockeyfanatic05 was using a point where Krug and Petro are similar players in the offensive zone, which is true to an extent.
So you're both right and you're both wrong.

A similar player to Petro offensively, two years younger, and saving enough money to afford a winger. Good work Army!

Offensively he's good. Defensively though? Shattenkirk 2.0

PIETROANGELO IS GONE!!!

This is a VERY good signing for the Blues and means that KRUG will be playing with Paranyko on the top pairing and they all all set and this cap hit works well for them and it's obvious that Torey Krug wanted TERM and that mattered to him. Good team for the team and the player.

Housley was 5'10. And way less physical. Not saying I love the term. And pls dont compare this to Alex who was one of the most complete defenders i the game...

Sry. Didn't mean you were comparing. Some did, and honestly Seth Jones comes to mind if would compare Pietrangelo to someone. Certainly not Krug

Bruins have a boat load of cap space now. They gotta be all in on Pietrangelo. Or maybe they go after Barrie for a lower cap hit and then look to add Hoffman or Toffoli. Bruins have a lot of options.

Starting in the opposing zone doesnt mean you cant play defense. Not only does this assume the coaches are correct, but it could just as well be because you're really effective on offense, which Krug is.

Who you want should depend on your other defensemen. Got Parayko? I'd let him play a lot of his own zone and Krug the opposite. That's a way better setup than having two defensemen equally good on offense and defense. Also - Pietrangelo has a history of playing very poorly on both special teams, Krug contributes heaps on the PP.

Hits fair, but the term is 1-2yr long.

Thanks for the memories Krug, enjoy STL.

I agree, what Sweeney offered was about right. Can't really blame him for losing krug.

true. I just looked at their roster and they're pretty set on the right side. They need a LHD or goal scorer for that 2nd line. Or both.
