I'd imagine NHL wouldn't be happy with that, but it's technically allowed I think.

Probably gonna be salty about it...like what WSH did with Orpik couple of years ago.

      Is it legal?
I was also curious if Brisebois convinces Detroit (any team) to claim him off waivers and then they make a future lopsided trade not including Johnson, such as cal Foote for a 6th...

I know Detroit has plenty of cap space and are gonna be crappy for the next few years but Yzerman really needs to be more ruthless with the cap space he has, that Staal trade was a weak return for the Wings and so is this.

I'm pretty sure we're not eating 10 million dollars for a 3rd rounder.

I don't think they're spending the cap honestly.

The NHL gets mad about that, and the Bolts wouldn’t want him back at $2.5 million, because that means they can still only afford 1 of their RFAs. And the Red Wings wouldn’t do that either.

Maybe if tbey get a crazy amount from someone to take a cap dump but I don't think they're really out there looking for it. Even staal was as much a need as a cap dump.

TAMPA HAS ZERO POINT ZERO interest in anything to do with Tyler Johnson.

CBA Article 50.5(c)(iii)(C)(4) covers this. It is illegal. Tampa has to wait a full year after trading a player to re-acquire them in a retained salary transaction
