What is PK worth Keep it clean

Description
Just for fun, assuming Subban is no worse than last season, what would NJ have to retain to obtain what (futures type) asset from your team? Is he worth picking up 3.5-4 mil a year for a prospect or pick to run point on PP and hold up 2RD on your team?

I doubt its worth NJ trading him at this time, but Im curious how the Capfriendly.com readers value PK these days

At 50% retained you can maybe get a 3rd rounder for him.

he shouldn't be worth much at 9M and not very good but some gms are living in 2017 so they would give up a good bit pf value

I could see him at half retained for like a 2nd. He gets a lot of hate. Sure his offensive numbers weren’t as high as usual but he’s not bad.

I suspect he will be more motivated & productive next year, hoping for a deadline trade to contender.

I agree with this, at 4.5 he's worth a gamble for a second.

I think the 'year from Hell' factor is in play here (much like Ghost) and he deserves more slack but he's also 31 and age decline is almost inescapable at that point

Personally I'd ask for 50% retension + good assets

But I think weak teams will take him at 33% retention + decent assets and that's not too shabby honestly, he's still a positive possession player naturally

Side note, I'm a leafs fan, but I'm liking the look of this Devils team. If they stay healthy the Murray and Crawford pickups were great. Still hate the Coleman trade, but this is not bad. Just need a good season from Hughes. Would maybe look at Stecher for the bottom pair, and maybe Fast upfront. If only to collect Jespers.

NJ give up assets? Nah, he's far from that bad. For 3.5 - 4.5 million per year, he's a valuable point on the PP and solid 2 RD. He's just not a $9 mil guy or number 1 anymore. NJ cant even let him go at any price right now, unless they find another RD to replace.

50% is the max retention and he makes 9mm avv. Hes still not worth 4.5. million. he was one of the worst D in the league last year by many metrics, and the eye test/simple stats dont really refute that in any way. In fact, his GAR and WAR were so bad that, statistically, they could just about replace him with any other RD in the league and it would be an improvement. Hes also not valuable on the power play whatsoever. He was the 107th ranked defenceman in power play points/60 last year. Meaning every PP QB in the league, on both the #1 and #2, was more effective than him on the power play.

Teams are paying to get rid of much better players. Vegas was willing to give up either a 1st or second to move MA Fleury. They couldnt make a deal. Nate Schmidt is both better, younger, and cheaper defensman right now. He only cost a 3rd rounder. Tampa put tyler johnson on waivers and couldnt give him away for free.

Fitz would probably pass out from excitement if he could trade him and not give up any assets. There just isnt a need to do so, since they devils are in a good situation cap-wise.

I am sorry, but youre just incorrect. Unless he can miraculously turn his game around next year, everything you said will continue to be incorrect.

He's not very good anymore & he's not going anywhere. We certainly agree on that ... but this team needs him. They have no better options.

I dont think hes going anywhere either, but I am not the one posting about his trade value.

I guess you didnt read the "Just for fun" statement at the opening ... not that it would have mattered, as you dont seem to be someone who is easily amused.
