Gets to be the #1 defenceman on the best powerplay in the league. After he gets his stats boosted he's gonna go in for a big raise the next year.

Good deal for both sides. That being said his defensive play is awful.

Barrie bets on himself to put up a bunch of points with McDavid & Draisaitl. Great deal for both sides.

Holy cow. Less than 4M for 40-50 points maybe more since he's playing with McDavid and Draisaitl.

Even if he does well I doubt he gets 8M. Especially with flat cap.

That 6M deal was also a short term deal.

He took a big discount. Big surprise, but maybe he could cash in on being successful with one of the best PPs in the league.

Let’s go. Fills the klefbom gap a little but.

VERY good deal for both sides. Glad Ken Holland didn't overpay like he used to do in Detroit and it seems with these latest UFA signings that he's learned his lesson. As for Tyson Barrie I like this signing because he doesn't put himself in jeopardy of being labeled a DRASTICALLY overpaid player for his career. This makes sense for both sides and I can see Barrie scoring upwards of 60 points being that all he has to do is get the puck into the hands of his two stars and join the rush. His third man in scoring opportunities should be off the chart in 2021. Smart signing.

I guess this means Bouchard gets another year to develop, unless injuries push him up or the Oilers add another depth right side dman. Not exactly the top 4 defender they needed, but still should help take some of the minute load off of Bear and Larsson. Left side is still questionable with Klefbom out long term, again.
Nurse - Bear
Jones? - Larsson
Russel? - Barrie
Not looking to good with those pairs, but maybe another prospect is ready to step up? Lagesson - Larsson might be a good shut down pair, but they will lack speed. Broberg is likely still another 1-2 years away, though he is off to a great start in the SHL and looked very promising in his bubble showing. Samorukov is also off to a great start in the KHL, so maybe he'll be ready to make the jump. Still too many questions on this backend, and Barrie doesn't really solve any problems accept replacing Klefbom on the pp.

They seem to like playing a big body in front of the net, so Yamamoto might not get time on that top pp unit. Chiasson, Neal, or Kassian are the likely plugs in that spot right now.

Wasn't Kassian, just Neal and Chiasson. Kassian got 2nd unit time when Neal was injured and we all know the 2nd unit only gets the final like 5-10 seconds and usually in their own end.

good signing for the oilers. Without Klefbom they will need defence by committee and this can help if he goes back to his old form.

I'm pretty sure the Leafs didn't ask him to come back and play with the kids.

But your second sentence is correct.

Vancouver would have been so f***** cap wise if they signed Barrie at $6,000,000 for more than 1 year lol.

Vancouver is already f***** cap wise without him, even after losing Markstrom, Tanev, Stecher and likely Toffoli.

Benning still probably offered Barrie $6,000,000 x 6 years though.

This contract should work out well for Oilers regardless of how the season turns out. They make the playoffs that's great if they struggle a deadline for half retained Barrie at 1.875M should get quite a bit of attention and a decent return.
