Just a couple days ago, I'd have scoffed at the Islanders trading Bellows for cap shedding. Then he got caught using "performance enhancing drugs" by the AHL! Get rid of him while we still can boys, the steroids explain why he went from 19 points in the AHL to potential NHL scorer in no time!

Or it could be similar to the Nate Schmidt situation..

How? Nate Schmidt was an undrafted guy who did well enough with U. Minn to get signed out of college, and was in an out of the NHL pretty quickly. He never had any disappointing AHL seasons. He never had any expectations, and he is a defenseman. He played good in the AHL, and soon after NHL, right off the bat. Bellows went from AHL plugger to solid Isles prospect again a little too fast.

Detroit would probably be interested in something like this. We’ll probably have around 8-9 million to spend after the Mantha and Bertuzzi extensions.

I’m talking about the PED. Schmidt only had seven billionths of a mg of PED in his system and the NHL gave him 20 games. He wasn’t using steroids.

Ah, okay. My guess is considering Bellows' punishment, it was probably coke. I feel like if it was steroids, in any amount, it would've been way worse than it was. I just like making jokes about it! smile
