Unnecessary for the canes imo.
Can anyone explain why they did this? It’s not a bad contract but it’s just a strange fit.

Improves their penalty kill which was not great last year at least it wasn't that good against Boston.

he's middle six only when Panarin is around. in fact, he's a typical 4th liner.

Well, i'm gonna give him credit cuz he was helping that line defensively. Decent player and this deal doesn't look bad at all when you look at what Kassian got in Edmonton.

Justin Williams just retired. Fast will slot into the lineup where Williams used to be in the bottom 6/2nd line if Rod throws the team in the lineup blender.
