Description
Yes I know there are some very good D prospects in next years draft but I think their draft this year with the defense was pretty solid. Maybe make the pick top 5 protected but whatever. Already anticipating slack from both sides. Not too worried about cap space as Carter will come of the books in 2 years if not a buy out candidate. If not kaliyev basically pick any prospect not named Turcotte or Byfield. I’m ok with not trading for Nylander but I can see something like this if nylander was to be shopped.

Moving Nylander for anything less than a top 4 d-man makes no sense for Toronto. Maybe start a package around Sean Walker and talks could start up. But prospects, picks and a third liner don't do much for them

Figured since they signed Brodie They’d want the 1st to draft a defenseman in next years draft. That’s my thinking of it anyhow.

Kings are good, their cap space is their strength right now, next season I think it’s cool moving a first to get top line scoring or a top d man, but no sense in getting that player while the rebuild is going on. Also cap space next season will definitely be worth plenty to teams.

Not sure if the Leafs will be overly interested in a top 4 RHD, as it seems Lehtonen is destined for that role at the moment, but I’m sure the Kings could make Roy (Walker just signed a contract, not a great move to trade him) work if Clague is able to fill that 3RD slot if they REALLY wanted another defenceman.

I think if the Kings were to land a player that’s still relatively young (rumoured that the Kings have been involved in talks about Laine) they’d pull the trigger on it, though I don’t think the Kings have many chips to gamble with in a deal like that.

Yeah Laine would be another target

Lehtonen is a wild card though. Could do a deal that involved Nylander and Holl for a package surrounding Walker and a guy like Vilardi or a prospect close to making it now

No thanks. Holl will be 29 in January that hurts the kings.

You still wouldn't get Nylander for less than Walker + a prospect likely

Kings will just sign the guy for a good chunk in 4 years and TOR gets nothing lol

In all seriousness yes it probably would be Walker + prospect not named byfield or Turcotte. A roster player like Iafallo and a pick or 2.

I could see that. Like I said, Walker and Vilardi make sense. Maybe the pick involved could be the Leafs keep their 2nd and LA keeps Toronto's 3rd but Toronto signs Clifford. Meets what Dubas wants to add and helps both teams

I don’t see kings trading vilardi. Byfield. Or Turcotte.

You just said for Walker and a prospect not named Byfield or Turcotte. Now you change it..

And a guy like Nylander on a contract like he is doesn't become available often. & with Vilardi's questions around his back I don't see it being a big stopper.

To me vilardi isn’t really a prospect. He is but isn’t to me. He’s in the nhl to stay. By prospect I meant who’s not in the NHL right now when I said that

It'd have to be someone very close to playing to attempt to fill Nylander's spot in the top 6. That's why Vilardi makes sense. I don't think guys like Kaliyev, Kupari, etc are NHL ready and especially not for a top 6 spot
