Think the main thing Toronto got was cap space from this trade. Though I think you could’ve gotten at least a third for Johnsson.

Joey Anderson literally was a 3rd rounder.. lol

Again. What do the islanders have any sort of relevance to this trade and or the teams involved?

Again. I wasn't even talking talking about the trade

This thread is about the trade and the islanders and leafs. So again, why bring up a team with no relevance to this topic?

Not sure if I prefer a player return over a pick.

Still, necessary trade.

a 3rd round pick would be lucky to become Joey Anderson.... I rather take a player that could actually contribute now rather than a pick that COULD become a player in 5 years

Idk really know who Joey Anderson is, so I’ll just take your word for it.

hahaah fair. All I'm saying is this basically was Johnsson for a 3rd, but the 3rd is 22 now and actually in the NHL

From what I read, he was mostly in the AHL this year?

Devils and leafs* My point still stands. Why are you brining up the islanders in a thread involving the leafs and devils?

I'm sure Anderson is worth a 2nd+3rd. He'll be on the Leafs roster on opening night.

finally we are done with the Johnsson for a 2nd and 3rd trades.

Dubas did well on this trade, I thought he would have to give a pick to get rid of him

Are you nuts? He's a 4th liner and best and will likely get close to league minimum on his next contract.

Johnsson is actually a good player, only reason they would have to pay is because other teams won't help them with their cap situation

I'm comparing the leafs to the islanders, his fav team. I can do it to every team in the league. I'm also doing it because i see now rule that I can't

He played a bunch of games in 18-19 for the NJD. He was captain for US junior team at the WJC. He's NHL ready next season. Equivalent to a 2nd+3rd rounder, imo.

if Barzal gets injured for the isles its over. At least the leafs have 4 players

Barzal, Eberle, Bailey, Pulock, Varlamov, Pelech (ESPECIALLY Pelech), Lee, Pageau and Nelson are all pieces in the Islanders. You see, our team has depth scoring and parity, where your team has four superstars and that's it.

How many 2nd and 3rd rounders make the NHL? Kap brought a 1st rounder! I'd rather have Kap, but it's close.

Leafs got Matthews, Tavares, Nylander, Marner, Hyman, Rielly, Brodie, Muzzin, Andersen. I didn't know 9>9

Yup. Firing Shero was the best move the organization has made, lol. TF is younger, smarter, and more creative.

I'd love to hear the 2 guys who voted "NO" try to justify their decision. But, I do think this is a fair deal for both sides.
