Um we got a B prospect with potential who is on a good deal. If anything thats a steal as if Dubas tried to trade him now he would have to pay for someone to take him lul.

I mean you can say he's a "B" prospect, but that doesn't make him one. A guy who I would say is a "B" prospect is Jesse Ylonen or Nick Robertson.

Maybe we could argue he could be a future 4th line grinder, but I don't see him as anything more than that.

I'd say Robertson is an A prospect personally.

Agree on the other 2 though.

I say New Jersey wins, but props to Toronto for unloading Johnsson's contract. He has not been the same player he was in his rookie season, not sure what has happened with him

Nah NJ lost hard. Johnsson has fallen off and taking on that cap without getting anything extra just makes it worse for them.

While Toronto gets a younger player who is making 750k, can be buried with no cost on the cap, and acquired cap space to go get Brodie

In hindsight it looked like a win for NJ but in the end Toronto won as they dont need to deal with that 3.4mill injury prone cap hit anymore.

So you are saying there is no chance of Johnsson bouncing back?

Im honestly surprised he is staying healthy as man for 2 years it was just injury come back suck repeat. Seems the long break helped everyone out lul

Kase has not got hurt once and he only played 6 games in 2 years lul.

Another one where the takes, including my own, were very bad in hindsight.

For those who don't know, Johnsson has asthma, so his bout with COVID last year dragged him down a ton. I'm happy to see that he's over it and is producing again.

As for Anderson, I'm disappointed. I was an early believer in him, and he flopped.

Both players are now in the minors. Johnsson is still making 3.4 million, and Anderson is making 750k.

And now it's a good take again. Johnsson was looking great early last year, but it's not how you start; it's how you finish.

The trade was strictly for cap purposes by the Leafs. Anderson in the trade didn't matter....getting rid of Johnsson's 3.4m cap regardless if he was good value or not was necessary.
I liked Johnsson's energy as a Leaf fan, but his lack of finish was disappointing. Wish him well.

To date, Toronto wins, but only by accident, because Dubas signed that contract and obviously saw player at 2.5!! now on waivers.

Yeah, it how the Leafs used the 3.4m by being Johnsson is the deciding factor. Even if the Leafs found a 1m replacement for Johnsson, that is still 2.4m in cap
Dubas has made some poor signings.....Johnsson who had to give away, and Mrzarek which costs the Leafs above 12 positions in the draft.
